As quoted by the club’s official website, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hailed new signing Bruno Fernandes after his impressive debut.
What did he say?
Fernandes joined the Red Devils in the final week of the January transfer window for a reported £47m from Portuguese side Sporting CP, and he was immediately thrown straight into the starting line-up against Wolves by Solskjaer.
As per Sofascore, the 25-year-old’s total of 110 touches over the course of the 90 minutes was only behind Aaron Wan-Bissaka (119), whilst he led the team with the most number of attempts on goal (5).

Having seen him enjoy a fine first game for the club, Solskjaer waxed lyrical about the Red Devils’ January signing, and insisted he will prove to be a “top addition” to the squad.
He said: “Bruno is a top player. It’s the first game. First half, everyone was getting the ball into feet and Bruno is one of those who, when he gets it into feet, he wants players moving in front of him and we didn’t. He’ll be a top addition.”
Glimpses of promise
Whilst United couldn’t breach the Wolves defence, and in the end had to settle for a goalless draw at home, Fernandes showed signs of why the club spent big-money to bring him to Old Trafford.
The Portuguese play-maker never shied away from taking responsibility for trying to get United the win, registering five shots on goal, and putting himself on free-kick duties too. That level of confidence on his debut will no doubt be an encouraging sign for Solskjaer, who desperately needs someone to help the side add a bit of magic to their attacking ranks.
